Our bodies are constantly subjected to stress in our modern society such that people seem to age much faster than their chronological age. The stresses and pressures of earning a living in a highly-competitive society have made us prone to diseases and illnesses that weaken our bodies. The immune system is often impaired because of these continuous attacks on our bodily systems. An example is urban pollution coming mostly from automobile exhausts. The car emissions contain harmful carbon dioxide that enters our lungs and leads to diminished breathing capacity. Other pollutants are those caused industrial plants that emit harmful emissions to the atmosphere and to the environment. All these things subject our frail bodies to incessant attacks on the immune system that sometimes our bodies will eventually fail earlier than normal. The aging process is accelerated due to the oxidants that enter our body systems.
Modern medicine has come to our rescue by giving us all those organic supplements on the market today. Modern lifestyles need supplements to prevent or even delay the aging process that inevitably comes with stressful and unhealthy living. There are many kinds of supplements available but the most beneficial are those grown or made organically. Being organic seems to become part of being politically-correct today similar to being clean and green. In fact, there is even an organic movement that advocates people to change their lifestyles to mostly organic consumption patterns to reduce our so-called “carbon footprints”.
Organic supplements include such varied items as health foods, vitamins, nutritional supplements, dietary supplements, herbal medicines, garlic and fish oils. All these products are chemically designed to aid our bodies fight the effects of the aging process such as painful joints (arthritis) such that we can extend our active healthy lifestyles well into our 70s and 80s. But not all these supplements are physiologically beneficial. Some of them have just been hyped up to promote sales and their labels sometimes exaggerate their health claims.
